Nick Davis founded Technickon after working for nearly 10 years as a project design and installation manager for a leading established cleanroom specialist contractor. His experience focused on the design and build of all aspects of cleanrooms, contained areas and more specialized projects including precision controlled stability rooms and environmental test chambers. He was particularly innovative in developing and refining the control systems and processes that are used in these facilities where his hands-on approach proved very successful. Technickon design and manufacture state-of-the-art door interlock/access systems for cleanrooms, containment suites, laboratories - in fact any critical area that requires door access control. Our designs are lower cost when compared to building a large, conventional control panel and will provide safe, functional, user-friendly, reliable control to any facility. The Technickon system adopts a modular basis with each function module added depending on system operating requirements. The master controller contains the 24vdc regulated power supply unit and distribution and control board. Each door in the interlock system has a master module connected back to the master controller using one six core signal cable and all magnets, proximity switches and additional modules are interconnected locally to the master module, reducing the requirement for cable installation. There are two fundamentally different ways to interlock doors depending on the application: ‘Normally Open Doors’ – All dormant doors are normally unlocked - but then lock immediately when another door is opened. ‘Normally Closed Doors’ – All dormant doors are normally locked - and are then unlocked using a ‘Door Release’ device (local pushbutton) however when an interlocked door has been opened the device is disabled. Room pressure, positive or negative to atmosphere, is one of the most important parameters that must be constantly monitored to assure facility cleanliness or containment, by correct sequencing of pressure cascades. Technickon can supply pressure monitoring panels with unlimited options and features which can be designed to meet any specification requirement with many useful options to choose from and can design, manufacture, install and commission systems that offer high precision pressure indication and are fully function tested – after manufacture and again after installation. Effectively controlling a cleanroom or other close-controlled environment demands attention to detail, not only at the design and construction stage, but during commissioning and proving, to ensure that the system specified and installed is actually performing the required control philosophy. Energy optimisation makes moral and financial sense and systems can incorporate fully automatic fan speed control, set-point relaxation and other measures to reduce facility energy consumption during idle periods. Smaller control panels are manufactured in house and Technickon also design and manage installations for larger, complex BMS systems – we ensure design-compliance and reliability in all of our work. Technickon are experienced in the design and setting-up of specialised HVAC and ductwork systems and provide a complete design, installation and commissioning / balancing package. Alternatively we can provide any of the individual services shown. These include precision air conditioning systems providing control of cleanliness, temperature, humidity, pressure, sound and specialised ventilation or air extraction from production equipment, fume cupboards and safety cabinets. Systems can feature full unidirectional flow or turbulent flow or appropriate combinations. Systems are designed and installed to deliver low-energy operation, compliance with all relevant standards, codes and good practice - including HVCA codes of Good Practice.
Technickon design and build customised solutions for applications which demand stable and precise environmental control. These facilities are typically designed to operate between temperatures of 25o C to 50o C and we can easily achieve temperature single point control of better than +/-1oC. Where required, a special room air mixing system can be installed that can typically achieve temperature single point control of +/- 0.5o C. The control systems we utilise for these applications are fully developed and field-proven with precise temperature and humidity controllers and logging equipment. Almost any combination of visual and audible devices can be integrated into the control system for display / monitoring / recording of any system parameter, while text message alarm systems can be integrated into the control strategy, for immediately informing staff direct to their mobile phones if critical parameter excursions or plant faults occur. Structures typically use pre-manufactured plastic coated steel faced rigid polyurethane foam cored panels with thermal breaks for the walls, ceilings and doors and sometimes floors. We can also install sealed easy-clean coving if required. Double or triple glazed observation ports with or without blinds can be installed. These structures are hermetically sealed using a variety of modern polymer sealants, depending on product sensitivity. Finishes and seals are hygienic, easy clean and resistant to most common sterilants and fumigants. We can supply internal racking in a wide variety of sizes, configurations and materials depending on client requirements.
